X-15 Photo

These are 3 1/2 x 5 inch gelatin silver prints. The paper used is resin coated glossy. These are photo copies of a photograph that was signed by Scott Crossfield.

This photograph is similar to this color photo which appears to have been taken the same day, perhaps part of a publicity effort by North American Aviation. The size fits nicely into a #10 envelope and these may have been included in response to fan letters, etc. I remember Scott telling me that he responded to all mail even those that didn't include return postage.

"Are the NACA Douglass D-558-2 #2 Skyrocket personally hand signed by the great, late Scott Crossfield? I understand his importance to the aviation field and would like to have his autograph passed down through my family and then my grandchildren. The same question regarding "On The Way To Stars". Sincerely and with Sympathy and May God Bless, Ronnie Joe Shewmake Savoy, Texas 75479 903-965-7902. "
